Printed Ephemera — 1983-12-16
Capital Gay
'Capital Gay' was a free weekly newspaper published in London for the gay community. Later, the paper was also distributed in Brighton and its total circulation was around 20,000. Founded by Graham McKerrow and Michael Mason, 'Capital Gay' appeared between 1981 and 1995. During protests over Section 28 in 1987 the paper's headquarters were firebombed. However, its demise was due to competition from other free gay newsheets.
