The ideal cooker for the modern kitchen
Promotional leaflet advertising the new Parkinson Crown Gas Cooker. The house proud housewife was often targeted by manufacturers promoting the latest domestic products, this leaflet is headed 'For the woman's workshop' and describes the enamelled oven interior and fold-down cover as 'features which appeal to the housewife'. The leaflet was issued by The Barnet District Gas & Water Company. As well as supplying gas and water to homes and businesses, the company also hired cookers and other modern appliances to those who could not afford buy them outright.
