Printed Ephemera — 1912
Great White City
Poster promoting the new Merryland attraction at White City, designed by the artist W.Barribal who was responsible for a number of posters advertising the attrractions of White City. Such posters were also produced as large advertising billboards pasted throughout London.
Merryland opened in 1912 as part of the Great International Exhibition of the Latin and British Nations. Promoted as a 'wonderful street of adventure', it was the recreational centrepiece of White City and housed a number of attractions. As well as an improved revolving Flip-Flap ride it also included new thrill rides such as The Roly-Poly, that rolled visitors in large tubs; the Dingle Dongle racing swings and the Boomerang that turned and twisted riders up and down.
