Printed Ephemera — 1990-11-03
GG II
This magazine was aimed at second generation British Asians aged 17-33. Inside are articles on news, culture and jobs. The cover image illustrates an article called 'Brothers in Arms: Asian Gangs Exposed', which traces the roots of contemporary gangs. During the 1970s Asian youths in Southall successfully cooperated to defend their communities against skinhead violence. Subsequently, however, rival Sikh gangs like the Holy Smokes and the Tooti Nungs fought amongst themselves. Two people from Houslow speak about the extortion, drug dealing and fighting the gangs inflict on the local Asian community.
