Children standing around a 'bubble car' in Southam Street, North Kensington
A group of children around a German-made Messerschmitt KR200 'bubble car' in Southam Street, North Kensington, 1956. 3-wheeled bubble cars with motorbike engines were popular in the 1950s primarily because they were cheap both to buy and to run. The went out of favour in Britain in the early 1960s as more advanced small cars, notably the British Motor Corporation's Mini, came onto the market.
