Token, communion token
Oval white metal communion token, issued by Kensington Presbyterian Church, 1863. On one side is the inscription 'KENSINGTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 1863' in raised lettering, and on the other '1st CORINTHIANS XI 28'. Communion tokens were used to identify those who were considered worthy to take part in the communion service. They were issued at the discretion of the minister or elders.
