Working History — C. 1902
Telegraph receiver
Telegraph receivers printed out messages sent from transmitters which used punched tape. The receiver used plain 'ticker tape' which would have printed out the message in ink as dots and dashes to be read once the transmission was complete. A third piece of equipment, the perforator, was needed at the start of the process to punch the holes in the tape.
