Printed Ephemera — C. 1965
Butlin's top of the tower restaurant
'Butlin's Top of the Tower Restaurant' was at the top of the GPO tower in Maple Street. The revolving restaurant, run by Sir William (Billy) Butlin and his son Robert, was marketed as 'London's new glamour spot'. The restaurant completed three full revolutions an hour, giving diners a 'leisurely panoramic view of London'. The brochure also lists the restaurant's extensive menu of French cuisine and cocktails drawn up by Mr R F Butlin and prepared in the tower's 36th-floor electric kitchen by the Spanish chef, Miguel Aquirre.
