An Asian cultural evening

This leaflet advertises an Asian Cultural Evening at Stoke Newington Assembly Hall, Hackney on 2nd March 1985. The event was organised by the Hackney Asian People's Association, and was to be an evening of music, dance and song. The leaflet carries a photograph of the singer Leela Ghosh, who was to star at the event along with Shanker Ganguly. The evening also featured traditional music and dance including bhangra, ras and garba. Bhangra and garba are types of folk music and dance which originated respectively in the Punjab in north west India, and in Gujarat on the western coast of India.
