British Telecom: The power behind the button
This promotional brochure was produced by British Telecom to showcase its UK and international operations. At the time there were 29 million telephones in the UK. The brochure describes British Telecom's management and structure alongside technological achievements like the System X digital exchange. Product innovations for home and office, such as Prestel Viewdata technology, Telecom Gold electronic mailing and cordless telephones are also featured. British Telecom was privatised by the government in 1984.
