This recruitment poster was issued by Post Office Telecommunications London Telephones to advertise career opportunities in telephony. Traditionally this was a largely female occupation, but this poster is aimed at both sexes. It mentions STD (Subscriber Trunk Dialling) as a labour-saving feature of the service. Before 1958 long distance calls had to be connected manually by the operator.
