The tour of Doctor Syntax through London, or the pleasures and miseries of the metropolis. A poem
Book. 'The tour of Doctor Syntax through London, or the pleasures and miseries of the metropolis. A poem'. Published by J. Johnston, Cheapside. 20 coloured aquatint plates (including title page) by T.R. Rowlandson and R.R. Cruikshank.
"An imitation of the various tours of Dr Syntax written by William Combe and illustrated by Rowlandson, according to Copac not written by Combe. Rowlandson has been credited with the illustrations to this book, but it seems more likely that they are by Isaac Robert Cruikshank. From advertisements quoted in Tooley, at least two artists were involved in making the plates (RV Tooley, 'English books with coloured plates 1790 to 1860' (Folkestone and London, 1973), cat. no. 434)." -- from BM website.
