The Suffragette ABC
Handwritten poem composed by Kathleen O'Kell whilst in Winson Green Gaol, Birmingham on Monday June 17th 1912. Entitled 'The Suffragette ABC' the poem includes letters of the alphabet representing the name of a suffragette.
Kathleen was sentenced to 4 months imprisonment in 1912 for smashing three windows at Scotts hatters in Piccadilly on 1st March. Due to the over-crowding at Holloway she and other window-smashers served their terms in Winson Green.
