Printed Ephemera — 1907
Programme
Programme and menu produced to commemorate a reception held by the Corporation of London at the Guildhall for the German Emperor and Empress on 13 November 1907. The front cover is embossed with an elaborate border with coloured engraved images of Guildhall Yard, Mansion House and Windsor. The Emperor of Germany was Willhelm II, a grandson of Queen Victoria. Although relations between Germany and Britain were troubled at this time, nonetheless the Kaiser gave a speech stating that he aimed for peaceful relations between the two countries.
