The Gypsies
This family group is entitled ‘The Gypsies’. The man is holding flowers and the woman carries clothes pegs and a baby. Selling flowers and clothes pegs were both once traditional Gypsy occupations. Charles Vyse, who made the figures, was a potter fom Staffordshire. In 1919 he started a pottery with his wife in Cheyne Walk, Chelsea.
