Social History — 1969-1975
BIBA
These price were used in the vast 'Big Biba' department store on Kensington High Street. The labels feature the distinctive black and gold Biba logo designed by John McConnell, who designed the famous Biba graphics from 1965-1972. The sinuous, curved decoration picks up on the Art Nouveau revival of the 1960s. For this logo McConnell used a period typeface called Arnold Bocklin, which has a Celtic feel. The logo was applied to all kinds of Biba products, marketing and packaging.
