Buddha Brand Catechue Powder
The betel nut palm tree provides catechu, used in Asia as a dye or a natural remedy to treat ulcers, diarrhoea and dysentery. The seeds of the tree, called betel nuts, are often chewed as a stimulant and stain the gums red. Imported from Asia, this powder was bought from a grocery store in Southall, an area particularly associated with London's Asian community.
