Printed Ephemera
A Little Advertiser
This valentine's card is handfinished and made of a lithograph print and lace paper. The central illustration, reprinted from Alice Havers, features a woman reclining on a bed, with the winged figure of cupid curled up, resting against her knee. Beneath the illustation a paper scroll has been attached, which reads with the handwritten message "a little advertiser". The lace paper mounted around the illustration is embossed with images of a vine, with birds and butterflies. The illustration is cut to the same size as the lace paper, which has been attached on paper hinges so the card does not open. Beneath the illustration on the back page is the text "Love makes his pillow of my knee".
