Card, valentine card
Handfinished lace paper valentine's card. In the mid-nineteenth century the advent of the penny post made sending valentine's cards very popular. Lace paper was a often used to make cards and on this card the lace paper has been highlighted with gold touches. At the centre of a card there is an oval shape, onto which has been stuck a handpainted floral motif which includes a metal foil basket.
