Working History — 1767
Watch, pocket watch
This pocket watch was manufactured by Charles Leignes, who had a long career in the West End watch trade. Leignes finished his apprenticeship in 1749 and by his retirement in the 1790s he had a shop on Northumberland Street off the Strand.
The gold watch case has an engraved floral design on the back which has been painted with translucent blue enamel. The edge of the case features a figure eight motif in gold and blue enamel. The movement has a verge escapement.
