Watch, verge watch
Gold pair-cased quarter repeating verge watch. Outer gold case has a bezel set with pastes and decorated with volutes and flowers in two coloured gold. Band with similar decoration. At the bottom a shell motif and at the top a Turk's head. On the back within an oval medallion bordered by garlands, a repousse scene with lute, torch, flowers and birds surrounding a classical pilaster topped by a vase of flowers, all in two golds and silver. Casemaker's mark 'JG' in back with scratched number '7645'. Inner case with pierced band and plain back. The pendant push piece set with a square cut crystal. Gilded brass dial rim fixed to the movement provides a recess for the repeating mechanism. Screwed on white enamel dial. Gold bosses and silver hands set with brilliants for hours and minutes. Movement has gilded brass plates and four pillars; gilded brass barrel. Fusee with chain and English stop-work. Regulator plate pierced with foliate designs. Balance cock of foliate design with shell motifs at junction.
