Makeup, cosmetic, face powder
Unopened pack of Phul-Nana face powder in circular card packaging covered with a printed label decorated with flowers and an Indian dancer. The powder was manufactured by the cosmetics firm J.Grossmith & Sons Limited of Piccadilly during World War II. Phul-Nana was a popular Indian fragrance used by J Grossmith to perfume a number of their products including talcum powder, bath crystals, soap, cream and powder . A label on the packaging notes the pack contains the same amount of powder as the original pre-war boxes. Make-up was not rationed during the war, but it was extremely scarce. This face powder would have been highly sought-after.
