Prehistoric — Modern; 1994
Replica, dagger
Replica bronze dagger manufactured by John C. Whittaker for the People before London gallery (which opened in November 1994). It is based on an ogival dagger in the Museum's collection (O1285) dating to circa 1700 BC. The blade is made from a silicon bronze with a biconvex cross section. It is decorated with four parallel gooves that follow the curves of the blade. The hilt is made from a single piece of oak held in place with four rivets. There is a separate pommel made from American moose antler (nearest equivalent to British elk).
