Printed Ephemera — 1761-09-22
Ticket, entrance ticket
This ticket allows admission to Westminster Abbey for the Coronation of King George III on 22 September 1761. It is engraved with the crowned King and Queen with a central supporting column of Westminster Abbey directly behind them. A large congregation of ermine-robed lords and other spectators seated in galleries are shown on either side viewing the coronation ceremony.
The ticket is missing its authenticating red wax seal that would have been stamped in the circle on the top left hand corner. Neither does it have handwritten details such as a number or details of entry. This implies the ticket was never actually issued.
