Watch, verge watch
Gold and enamel pair-cased verge watch No. 3795. Plain gold inner case with hinged bezel and winding hole.Hallmarked London and with casemaker's mark 'D.A'. On the back below the pendant, engraved initials 'M A'. Heavy gold and enamel outer case with hinged bezel decorated with split pearls. The band has a double ring of white enamel surrounding a central area which is of blue guilloche with gold foliage. An oval roundel of gold rosettes on the back encloses a gold and green enamelled design in the form of a vase of flowers.Gilded brass dial plate with three feet. Spare holes provide evidence of a previous dial. The current white enamel dial has an outer ring for the minutes which surrounds the Roman hour numerals. On the front of the dial plate are a number of scratched inscriptions. Gold beetle and poker hands. Movement has circular gilded brass plates and four square baluster pillars. Gilded brass barrel with worm and wheel set -up mounted under the front plate. Fusee with chain and English stop work. Four wheel train. Plain steel 3-arm balance with spiral balance spring and Tompion regulation. Pierced and engraved balance cock of foliate design with a series of semi-circles around the edge of the table. Pierced foot.
