Printed Ephemera — 1912
The Burial Service
This sixteen page printed small booklet contains the burial service or ' the order for the burial of the dead'. It has a blue impressed cover with gilded lettering and a central monogram. Inside are handwritten details of the funeral at which the booklet was distributed by the funeral director William Nodes of 201 Holloway Road. Below the words 'In Memoriam' the name, ' Mary Shrubsole' has been added by hand in black ink, followed by the information that the death had occurred on 10 January (no year given) and that she was aged 74 years. The body was interred at Abney Park cemetery 'in the family grave of Percy Shrubsole of Holloway' who had been a butcher in the Holloway Road. Cemetery records show that the burial took place on 15 January 1912.
