Printed Ephemera — 1940-1945
We're All in It
Cut out paper doll and story book entitled 'We're All in It'. On the front and back covers are press out figures of a Mummy and Daddy in their underclothes. Inside the book is an illustrated story about war service and 6 cut out uniforms with tabs for attaching to the figures. Published during World War II, the uniforms represent those worn by parents undertaking various kinds of war service. For the Mummy there are uniforms of a WRNS Officer, an ATS Officer and WAAF Officer. For the Daddy there are uniforms for the RAF, a Seaman in the Royal Navy and a soldier's battle dress. The story inside the book, subtitled 'Mummy and Daddy Put on Uniform' explains to children why their parents may be wearing these uniforms and the importance of the work they are doing. The last sentence reads as follows 'When you play with these uniforms remember how well their wearers are doing all they can to help Britain. Are you too? Are you saving all you can - and stopping waste - and being cheerful? because every one of us should say - everyday - 'it all depends on me'.
