Printed Ephemera — 1926
Hitchcock, Williams & Co.
This fashion catalogue produced by the firm Hitchcock, Williams & Co for the autumn season 1926 is illustrated with gowns, coat frocks and evening dresses. The trend for angular designs is evident. Corsets had been abandoned in favour of loose-fitting clothes and underwear. Dresses with no fastenings could be slipped over the head. The relative simplicity reflected the increasingly active role women had played since World War I.
