London Cry
Copy of the newspaper 'London Cry', dated Wednesday 6 April 1955. It was the second of eight editions of the newspaper, which was published during a Fleet Street press strike by journalists and proprietors who were opposed to the strike. The paper consists of a single sheet, priced at 6d, and includes the headline 'Winnie's Farewell'. It covered the story of Winston Churchill's resignation as Prime Minister on 5 April when many national newspapers were unable to do so. It also includes an article on the relationship between Princess Margaret and Gp. Capt. Townsend, and an account of the first day's edition of the London Cry.
