Menu of C.Kranz and Company, bakers. German sugar bakers worked in London from the mid 18th century. They mainly settled where they worked, in the City, Whitechapel and East Smithfield. A middle class German community later grew up in Sydenham and Forest Hill in south London, where they built a German church. Christian Kranz, maintaining the tradition of the German baker, opened his shop there. Other bakers with the same surname were also doing business in London at this time.
Gives address and telephone and a list of services. Folded menu. Located at 42 Perry Vale, Forest Hill, SE and 53 Denmark Hill, S.E. cafe, bakers, cooks, confectioners, wine merchants also contractors for weddings 'cinderella dances a speciality'. Inside printed price list of wines, champagne, port and sherry supplied by firm. On back is printed a food menu for the cafe pastries, cakes, sandwiches and soft drinks.
