Printed Ephemera — 1999
The millennium vegetarian pledge
The Young Indian Vegetarians was founded in 1978. They donated a copy of their millennium vegetarian pledge to the Museum. The group explained that 'This statement is our vision of the 21st century and it means a lot to us, as we are committed to changing the human/ animal relationship from one of exploitation to one of mercy and compassion.' They read their pledge aloud during a vegetarian rally in Hyde Park on 31st December 1999.
