A trader with an anatomical model for sale at Caledonian Market
A patent medicine salesman demonstrating with a medical model of a body, with removable organs, at Caledonian Market, 1935. Originally a live cattle market, the Caledonian had by the 1930s become the largest street market in London, selling a vast array of new and second-hand goods. After the Second World War it relocated to Bermondsey to become the New Caledonian Market, specialising in antiques and collectables. The negative is from a group of photographs taken by the movie photographer Cyril Arapoff.
