This invoice issued by B Ayton, furnishing undertaker and funeral carriage proprietor, of Cambridge Road, Mile End, refers to the funeral of Samuel Coleman who died on 15 December 1909, aged 78 years. It has a printed letterhead and the details of the specific funeral have been handwritten. The cost of the 'car & coach to Woodgrange Cemetery' came to £6-10 shillings and the 'ground' a further guinea or £1- 1 shilling. The invoice had been paid with a one penny revenue stamp attached.
Woodgrange Park cemetery was founded in 1890. It is in the borough of Newham just to the south of the Romford Road and near Woodgrange Park Station.
