The Eighty Club - Luncheon in honour of The Prime Ministers of the Dominions attending the Imperial Conference
A menu for the Eighty Club luncheon held in honour of the Prime Ministers of the Dominions attending the Imperial Conference on 27 May 1911. Printed on white card, the cover includes a border illustration of medallions filled with cartoon illustrations from Vanity Fair. The inside of the menu outlines the five course meal served to guests.
Established in February 1881, the Eighty Club was a speakers club formed out of the Grey Committee, a group who did much to move the Liberal Party toward their 1880 electoral success. These political foundations continued to shape the club who worked to promote Liberal Education and stimulate Liberal organisation. By the 1960's the group's influence had begun to decline, attempts at re-establishment between 1965-6 were not succesful and in 1978 the club was disbanded.
