Cosmetics, foundation
This bottle of Mary Quant foundation includes honey, almond oil and wheatgerm oil. Produced as part of Quant's Special Recipe range, it represents a growing interest from cosmetics firms in the use of natural ingredients during the 1970s.
In her 2012 biography, Mary Quant wrote that 'Special Recipes was an idea I had for a second Mary Quant make-up brand, made with large natural ingredients of flowers, herbs, fruit and vegetables. It was conceived at the height of 'flower power' in the late sixties/early seventies. The whole conept was nostalgic and the packaging was old-fashioned and romantic. I wanted black and gold chunky pots and jars, with sympathetic rounded graphics, in black, mustard and gold.'
