The Stadium, Franco-British Exhibition, London, 1908
Official coloured postcard depicting the Stadium at the Franco-British Exhibition, London, 1908. The stadium was the main sports arena for the London Olympic Games of that year, which took place alongside the exhibition in Shepherd's Bush. The exhibition showground with its ornate buildings, which became known as White City, can be seen beyond the stadium in the image. The card was sent from the exhibition on 5 August 1908, and carries the official post mark and a halfpenny postage stamp. There is no message, but the card was sent to a Miss May Taylor at the Parrot Inn in Chalford.
