Women's Freedom League, Suffragette Nina Boyle
Three members of the Women's Freedom League. The woman in the coat is identified on the reverse as Nina Boyle. The WFL was a militant suffrage group founded in 1907 by women who broke away from the Women's Social and Political Union as a result of policy differences with the Pankhursts.
(Constance Antonia) Nina Boyle (1865-1943) worked as a journalist in South Africa. She returned to Britain and joined the Women’s Freedom League. Boyle worked as a speaker for the WFL and was imprisoned three times for her suffragette activities. In August 1914, on the outbreak of World War I she established the Women Police Volunteers.
