Printed Ephemera — 1908-10
Mrs Pankhurst, Flora Drummond and and Christabel Pankhurst in dock at Bow St. Magistrates
Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst and Flora Drummon during their trial at Bow Street Magistrates Court, October 1908. This court appearance refers to the arrest of the suffragette leaders for inciting a riot and urging supporters to 'rush' the House of Commons.
The image was taken undercover by the professional photographer Arthur Barrett by a small camera concealed inside a top hat fitted with a flap. Barrett regularly took photographs of Suffragettes. His images were often published in the Daily & Sunday Graphic.
