Manuscript
King Charles declaration to the City. Manuscript written throughout in the Earl of Clarendon's hand of "His Majesty's Declaration to his City of London upon occasion of the late Calamity by the lamentable Fire." It was printed by the King's printers, bearing date Whitehall, September 13th, 1666. The manuscript follows closely the printed version, from which it differs only in occasional spelling of words, place of words, and in one case in the breaking up of the text into paragraphs. It appears to have been a draft submitted to the King before printing.
