Printed Ephemera — 1802-10-29
Courier De Londres. Vol.52. Number 35
French newspapers like the 'Courier de Londres' were published in London from the late 18th century for the city's large French population. It is estimated that over 30,000 French refugees settled in the metropolis during the French Revolution. Their numbers were so great that the British government passed an Aliens Act in 1793 to restrict their entry.
