Walter Day (1877-1961) and Emily Amelia Hobden (1882-1960) were married in Islington on 14 April 1906. Like his father George, who was a brewery stoker, Walter worked at the Whitbread Brewery in Chiswell Street. Walter was a cellar man. Walter and Emily lived in Islington until the late 1930s when Walter retired and they moved out of London. The Days had four children - Walter, Ena, Edith and Sydney.
