Printed Ephemera — 1903-1906
Henry Irving as Dante
Handcoloured head and shoulders portrait print of Henry Irving in the role of Dante. The face has been handcoloured and silk and cotton fabric has been applied for the cloak and hat. The inscription under the portrait suggests that it was published after Irving's death, which took place in October 1905, so this is probably a very late example of a theatrical portrait built up in the tinselling technique.
