Printed Ephemera — 1914
Contract
Contract regarding the provision of native American Indians to work at the Anglo-American exhibition held at White City in 1914. This form of contract had previously been used for the Japan-British exhibition of 1910.
Villages, buildings, landscape and scenery representing foreign lands were standard features of all White City exhibitions. Authenticity required that 'natives' were brought over to England to exhibit and demonstrate their ways of life. For the Anglo-American exhibition of 1914, White City contracted the Miller Brothers & Edward Arlington, proprietors of the 101 Ranch Wild West Show to supply 45 North American Indians to work in the Indian village exhibit.
