Printed Ephemera — 1912
Romance of Nations
Pamphlet listing the recreational attractions available at the Great International Exhibition of the Latin and British Nations. As a private enterprise, White City was financially dependent on visitor income. Visitors were encouraged to return each year by the promise of new attractions and features as well as old favourites such as the Flip Flap. For this exhibition in 1912, a number of new attractions were installed in at a cost of over £200,000. These included the Flying Comets that transported visitors 1,000 ft above the exhibition grounds and the Hurly Burly, a series of revolving platforms, over which passengers were whirled and passed from one point to another.
