Women of Hammersmith Come in your Thousands
Printed handbill announcing details of Woman's Sunday that took place on 21st June 1908. The handbill is addressed specifically to the 'women of Hammersmith' urging them to join the great Suffragette demonstration and rally in Hyde Park organised by the Women's Social and Political Union. The handbill is printed with information on where Hammersmith women can join the procession and includes contact details for Frances Rowe, Secretary and founding member of the Hammersmith branch of the WSPU.
Woman's Sunday was the first 'monster meeting' to be organised by the Women's Social and Political Union. Trains were specially chartered to bring in thousands of suffragettes from all over Britain to march in seven processions to Hyde Park where 20 temporary platforms were erected in a circle for 80 speakers to address the crowds.
