Printed Ephemera — 1921-1923
Pamphlet
Pamphlet promoting the repair and reconstruction of the White City exhibition showground at Shepherd's Bush c.1922. The showground was originally laid out with ornamental buildings, lakes and walkways by Imre Kiralfy in 1908 when it was used for the Franco-British Exhibition. A large sports stadium was also constructed as the main arena for the London Olympic Games that same year. After 1908 the showground continued to host a series of international exhibitions, including the Japan-British Exhibition of 1910, and the Anglo-American Exposition of 1913-14. During World War One the site came under Government occupation and was used for the drilling of troops, but in in 1921 and 1922 the exhibition buildings and grounds underwent repair. The venue was subsequently used for a series of British industrial and textile fairs in the 1920s and 1930s. This leaflet opens out to give an artist's impression of a birds-eye view of the Shepherd's Bush Exhibition as it was then known.
