Printed Ephemera — 1914
Central London Railway
This first-class free rail pass was issued by the Central London Railway to Albert Kiralfy. Albert and his Father, Imre were the creative and organising force behind the White City exhibition grounds at Shepherd's Bush, west London. The pass, within a gilded and green leather cover, grants Albert Kiralfy free passage on all stations of the Central London railway for the year 1914. White City was served by two stations on the Central London Railway - Shepherds Bush and Wood Lane.
In preparation for the great number of visitors expected at the exhibition site, the Central London Underground network had been extended in 1908 with a new station, Wood Lane that led straight to White City through a covered walkway. In 1947 Wood Lane was replaced by White City station, just north of the original exhibition site.
