Tobacco pipe, clay pipe
This plain, clay tobacco pipe is typical of the type of cheap, mass produced pipe used by London's dock workers. Tobacco smoking was very popular with London's male working class. Clay pipes were thrown away when broken and are often today found in large quantities during archaeological excavations.
