Suffragettes in Replica Prison Clothing Demonstrating on the Steps of the Public Trustee Office, 7th November 1908
Suffragettes in replica prison clothing lining up on the steps of the Public Trustee Office, 7th November 1908. The group were preparing to take part in a rally and procession from Central London to Holloway prison organised by Flora Drummond. The event was intended to raise the morale of Suffragette prisoners, including Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst serving sentences in Holloway and, most significantly, achieve publicity for the campaign. Flora had been sentenced alongside Christabel and Emmeline to three months imprisonment in October 1908 for incitement but was released nine days into her sentence when it was discovered she was pregnant.
