Summons, court summons
Issued at the time of the arrest of the Suffragette Janie Terrero the summons relates to an offence of window smashing. Having taken part in the March 1912 WSPU window smashing campaign in London's West End, Janie was subsequently tried and convicted of smashing 4 plate glass windows at the Oxford Street branch of Messrs Steddalls a manufacutring retailer of women's ready to wear clothing. Sent to Holloway prison on a 4 months sentence Janie joined the Suffragette prisoners hunger strike and was forcibly fed until released a few days before the end of her sentence.
